My family just enjoyed A Christmas Story Christmas, the 2022 sequel to one of our traditional favourites, A Christmas Story. The original 1983 film depicts a family’s eventful Christmas back in the 1940s. The lead character, a 9-year-old boy named Ralphie Parker, goes to great lengths to make sure that he gets the Christmas gift of his dreams: a Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model Air Rifle. It makes for a very amusing tale! The sequel, while working off a premise more sullen than in the first movie, as grown-up Ralph navigates his first Christmas without his beloved yet crotchety father, still has wonderful family anecdotes.

We get to revisit all of our favourite characters, including Ralphie, his brother, Randy, and their childhood friends, all grown up and some with families of their own. Ralphie’s kids also deal with many of the same humorous situations as he did when he was young and the nostalgia is on point. This movie is best served with hot chocolate, Christmas cookies…and of course, a little popcorn!
